Vinyl Floor are releasing “Mr. Rubinstein,” the opening track from their forthcoming album “Balancing Act”, on October 31st, 2025. It’s the first taste of what the Danish duo have been working on.
“Mr. Rubinstein” tells a real story about what happens when an artist and a critic lock horns, when egos collide and nobody wants to back down. The song captures that tension in every note.
Brothers Thomas Charlie Pedersen and Daniel Pedersen recorded the track at Studio Möllan in Sweden, working with producer Emil Isaksson. Søren Vestergaard handled mixing and mastering at the Shelter. The band brought in Bebe Risenfors, who’s played with Tom Waits, to add layers of horns, and Christian Ellegaard’s string arrangements give the song its haunting quality.
This is a different kind of track for Vinyl Floor. It moves slowly, deliberately. Piano, organ, and strings dominate the landscape. It’s moody, a bit dark, and it takes its time getting where it needs to go. The single edit runs 4:13, slightly shorter than the album version that will appear on “Balancing Act” when it arrives February 27th, 2026.
Since forming in 2007, Vinyl Floor has built their sound on the foundation of 60s and 70s British rock, then added their own layers. They’ve toured the UK, Germany, and Japan, playing over 200 shows. “Balancing Act” will be their sixth full length album, following “Funhouse Mirror” (2022), “Apogee” (2018), “Vaudeville” (2014), “Peninsula” (2012), and “Do You Still Dream” (2009).
“Mr. Rubinstein” releases October 31st, 2025 via Karmanian Records.
